After spending about 10 years living and working in the UK, we came back to South Africa and I co-founded Formfunc with my late husband Peter Kowalski in 2009.

JOINED FORMFUNC: Well… that would be from inception!

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: I’m super passionate about our environment and our impact. I’m a big believer in doing things the right way within our industry, as well as giving our clients the absolute best products available in SA.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Spending time with my two girls in one of our many beautiful nature reserves.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The Freedom chair, without question! It was absolutely revolutionary with its automatic recline, which was designed by Neils Diffrient in 1999. To this day, so many other task chairs still insist on manual adjustments which is just mind-blowing! The Freedom chair is an icon and one of the most beautiful chairs aesthetically.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: The most adventurous thing I’ve ever done was travel the world for seven (incredible and memorable) months.

Graduated from Design School Southern Africa with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design and a SAQA Level 8 Advanced Project Management Certification from Stellenbosch Business School. COEE Technical Certification in Office Ergonomics.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Chasing the sale, closing deals and associating myself with high quality brands that tell a story and make a positive impact on peoples lives.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: No better time spent than with my young family, socialising with friends and of course, not to forget my awesome colleagues!

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The Humanscale Path Chair. I’m in awe of Humanscale’s incredible journey to creating the world’s most sustainable task chair. It is a genuine testament to how companies, whether large or small, can have a substantial impact on climate change, which is an alarming issue.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: Some say I have gills, other say I have flippers. I love playing competitive Waterpolo. I guess it’s the required fitness level and physical aspect of the sport that keeps me young.

Graduated from Tshwane University of Technology with a Diploma in Interior Architecture. COEE Technical Certification in Office Ergonomics.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Beautiful decor and interiors, finely crafted furniture and architecture. I find great fulfilment in creating ultimate workspaces for clients.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Traveling to exotic destinations, spending time with my beautiful family and hosting dinner parties.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: Definitely the Freedom Task Chair. Freedom proves that ergonomics can be beautiful. Its unique form has a timeless aesthetic that complements any workspace.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I get a thrill out of lacing up my running shoes and conquering races/half marathons. Hitting the tar releases endorphins, and leaves me feeling challenged, energised and rewarded. I love spending time with my close-knit family and furry friends.

Completed high school in New Zealand then carried out an adventurous year-long student exchange in Brazil. Achieved a Diploma in Electrical Engineering through UNISA.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: My family and life make me bounce out of bed in the morning. My two daughters bring me immense joy and constantly amaze me with their tremendous achievements and hard work.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Nothing like a good old braai! I also enjoy a variety of sport and weekends are best spent camping and exploring new travel destinations.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: Tough one! To be truthful I’m unable to single out a specific product as my favourite. I find all our Humanscale products ergonomically beneficial, comfortable and simple to use.

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME: My friends call me Bird, as in Kiwi Bird!

Graduated with a Matric Certificate in 2007 followed by six years experience in retail stores. Completed various short courses in Business Management during time at Formfunc.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: I thoroughly enjoy spending my free time doing construction work, building and creating things with my hands. It is just awesome to see an idea grow into a home and how a renovation can give new life to tired buildings.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Spending time with my kids and family is always filled with laughter, plenty smiles and creating special memories.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: I’ve been sitting on a Freedom Headrest for over a decade now and it’s by far my favourite. Being comfortable at work keeps me feeling healthy and productive (and it’s a pretty good looking chair!).

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’ve got the moves like Jagger! I love dancing whenever I get the chance. My nickname isn’t ‘Dance Master’ for no reason.

Obtained an N3 Fitting and Turning certification from Northlea College.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: I believe it is important for everyone to pave their own way in life. I take pride in my own accomplishments and work diligently to reap the rewards. I am passionate about assisting those who may be less fortunate. I strongly believe in the principles of equality and fairness in life.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: I enjoy playing the video game, Call of Duty, during my time off. I find problem-solving and repairing things to be great challenges. On weekends, you would typically find me working on vehicles for friends and family, or going on trips with my loved ones. It is incredibly special to witness my young son experiencing things for the first time in life.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The Liberty task chair for sure. An elegant, simple and extremely comfortable chair. If looked after it can last a lifetime.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’d easily challenge you to a game of chess!

Over 20 years experience in Customer Service and Account Management Support. Engaging with both local and international suppliers as part of the procurement process.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Mother Earth. I am extremely proud to work for a company that is deeply passionate about the environment. Additionally, the fact that this is the most paperless job I have ever had makes me feel like I am contributing to a more sustainable future.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: I love spending time with my close-knit family, taking scenic drives and exploring the many wonderful attractions the beautiful Western Cape has to offer.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: Easily the Diffrient World Chair. While being aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it also provides the most comfort while sitting at my work station.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I often get told I have a memory like an elephant!

My career began in the insurance industry before transitioning to the ergonomic furniture sector. I have dedicated over a decade to Formfunc, and it has undoubtedly been the best decision I ever made.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Admin! Getting back to team members and clients as soon as possible and strive to clear my inbox every day.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Quality time spent with my beloved family and friends – especially my grandchildren who keep me busy and on my toes.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: Float Desk – enables me to sit or stand at any time during the day, keeping me active and productive.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I can continue typing whilst having a conversation with you. That always used to amuse Peter K.

Graduated with a B.Comm Degree in Marketing, Business Management and Tourism from the University of Pretoria. Over 18 years experience in Marketing and Communications.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: I’m extremely grateful that I get to do a job that I love. I thrive in an environment where innovation is encouraged. Working in a space that fosters creativity and being able to infuse that into my role brings me immense satisfaction. Seeing creative visions come to life and having a meaningful impact through my work is rewarding and fulfilling.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: The thrill of family holidays and exploring new destinations, trying exotic cuisines and learning about different cultures fills me with excitement and wonder. Travelling allows me to embrace the beauty of our world and connect with people from all walks of life. Spending time with my husband and two darling children is priceless.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: It’s a toss up between the World chair (in white) and the QuickStand Eco. Alternating between sitting and standing during my work day has drastically improved a long term injury that I have had. The World chair is like sitting on air and I love how lightweight it is.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME:
I have already submitted my request to become a game ranger in my next life. Imagine trading a desk job for a safari jeep – spending days chasing sunsets, tracking majestic lions and negotiating with cheeky elephants… Kruger National Park is my happy place, my sanctuary where I find peace amidst nature’s beauty. No trip is ever long enough!

Many, many years in the industry! With a qualification in Travel and Tourism yet somehow landed up in the furniture and design industry. A passionate furniture broker representing a number of curated brands.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Deeply passionate about the environment, animals, and community. Protecting our planet and preserving its natural beauty is a cause close to my heart. I have a profound love for animals and advocate for their welfare, believing in the importance of treating all living beings with compassion and respect. Engaging with my community and giving back through volunteering and supporting local causes brings me great joy.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: My dog… actually ALL dogs! Spending time with my friends and family makes my heart sing. Surrounding myself with likeminded people resonates deeply with me. And spending time in my home – home is my ultimate happy place.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: Absolutely 100% the Freedom Headrest. I adore everything about this chair. It’s not just (really) pretty, it has crazy ergonomic abilities and hopefully I’ll be fortunate enough to own my own Freedom one day!

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m captivated by crime documentaries. Chilling yet compelling, they offer a fascinating glimpse into the complexities of human nature and the details of criminal investigations. The suspense, mystery, and psychological depth of these documentaries intrigue me, keeping me on the edge of my seat as I delve into the minds of both perpetrators and investigators.

Previous experience in sales at Hi Fi Corp for 8 years, as well as position as Driver. Warehouse Assistant Manager for a courier business for almost 5 years. Currently Installation/Service Technician and Driver at Formfunc.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Being able to deal with people from all walks of life on a daily basis. I’m a people person and make an effort to always have a positive attitude. I enjoy making those around me feel good about themselves and taking pride in my work. I love the fact that I’m not desk- bound, always on the road heading to clients.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: I’m a Capetonian born and bred and absolutely love living in Cape Town. I thoroughly enjoy spending time outdoors, especially playing football and indoor soccer. Happiest moments are spent with family and friends, particularly my daughter and it is important to me that close family and friends are well looked after.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: M/Flex monitor arm. It makes life easier when you’re desk bound. The M/Flex looks professional and creates a clutter-free desk space. Dealing with clients, I’ve seen how much this makes a difference in their office and working life, not to mention their posture!

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I get a kick out of teasing people and joking around. My nickname is Guru. A name given to me many moons ago because I am the tallest out of all my mates. I could fit through nooks and crannies when I was a young boy, thanks to being tall and skinny. I’ve always enjoyed working with tools like screw drivers, fidgeting on electronics – and am referred to as the go-to-Guru!

Achieved a Matric Certificate in 2003.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: My day is made when I leave a client happy and satisfied with our products and service. It gives me great pleasure to know that I am constantly doing my best and it is my motto to always provide impeccable customer service levels.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Seeing people smile. Whether it is our clients or those near and dear to me.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The Float desk because it boasts so many superb features. The no-fuss mechanism to move the desk up and down is out of this world. Simple and efficient.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m a total joker at heart and enjoy making people laugh. I like to think I’m as funny as Trevor Noah but my friends and colleagues think my jokes need a bit more work…

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: I love making clothes and can spend hours sitting behind the sewing machine. I find great enjoyment in visualising a piece, cutting patterns and watching the end result come to life.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Hiking! My hiking group, ‘The Groot Brakkers’ meet at 5am on Saturday mornings to explore many of the stunning scenic walks Cape Town has to offer. It’s the highlight of my week. We typically relax with a picnic along the way and enjoy each other’s company. Groot Brakkers is my favourite What’s App group to be on!

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The Diffrient World chair. I find the backrest super comfortable and it’s an effortless sitting experience. Working behind the scenes at our assembly plant, I witness first-hand how few parts are involved in creating the World chair, which is truly phenomenal.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m a closet Karaoke singer! Singing 80’s and 90’s hits makes me one happy lady.

A versatile all-rounder with extensive knowledge of all aspects in Formfunc’s Cape Town assembly plant.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Upholstery and the process of taking textile from a roll and creating a beautiful piece of furniture. I love the fact that my two hands are involved in crafting a product.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Cooking anything from curry to vegetarian dishes. Time spent in the kitchen is very relaxing for me and the best part is seeing my family and friends enjoying my food.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: I love the Liberty Task chair. I find the back of the chair extremely comfortable and I think the polished aluminium frame looks super sexy.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I have tiny feet. I’m a size 3, so shoe shopping for me usually takes place in the kids department.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: It’s important to me to be an asset to Formfunc. I am very passionate about my role in the company and always strive to do my utmost best.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Working hard to give my family a good life makes me happy and content.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The Freedom Task chair is brilliant. An extremely versatile chair that can be used in boardrooms, offices or work-from-home spaces.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m a sports fanatic! But if I were forced to choose, soccer would be top of my list.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: I really enjoy working with my hands, which is why servicing chairs is my favourite part of my job. It is wonderful to add a few more years onto a chair’s lifespan after a decent service.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Festive weekends playing pool with friends, or watching soccer on the TV.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The World chair, reason being it is ticks a lot of boxes. It’s a chair that is suitable to many shapes and sizes without having to change many settings on the chair.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’ll accept any challenge that comes my way!

7 years previous experience as a loader at a reputable transportation company. Currently working as a Technician at Formfunc.

WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Since a very young age I have had a strong passion for sport. I’m a diehard Orlando Pirates fan and look forward to watching them play live at the Cape Town stadium. I get a thrill from the action on the field.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Free time on weekends to visit with friends and family. I enjoy a trip to Muizenberg beach to swim in the (cold!) ocean.

FAVOURITE HUMANSCALE PRODUCT AND WHY: The Freedom Headrest is the ultimate chair (upholstered in tan leather). I’m quite a tall gent and I enjoy how the Freedom backrest and headrest move back freely when I sit in it and supports my physique.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME: My nickname on the soccer field is ‘Tower’ because of my height.
